The lucky winner of the “Chunky Blanket Fundraiser” raffle received this beautiful handmade blanket by NHS teacher Melissa Hodges.

WOODBURY – Nonnewaug High School’s National Honor Society ran a “Chunky Blanket Fundraiser” to help raise money for the American Red Cross.

The “Chunky Blanket Fundraiser” was orchestrated by NHS science teacher and faculty adviser Melissa Hodges. Hodges held a “DIY” zoom meeting to teach participants how to make the blankets. The zoom meeting was held on March 18th.

Hodges made a blanket of her own, which was raffled off on March 29th at Nonnewaug High School. All the proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Red Cross.

Hodges stated, “The National Honor Society usually holds 3 blood drives during the school year with the Red Cross.  Due to the pandemic, we have been unable to do so since February of last year. The fundraiser is our way of still supporting a group we have worked closely with for years.”
