WOODBURY — The Woodbury FFA sophomore officer team and Nonnewaug’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America are hosting a Christmas gift donation drive.

This event supports children in need all around the world. Donations can be dropped in in the green boxes outside of the ag entrance. Collections will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Nov. 21.

Gift ideas include small toys, like puzzles or dolls, and kids hygiene products. All gifts must be able to fit in a shoebox, which will be wrapped and given to children. Gifts should not include English writing on the toys or food.

Samaritan’s Purse has been hosting Operation Christmas Child since 1993, when Franklin Graham started the program. During their first year of operation, 28,000 boxes were donated to children in the Balkans.

During the 2012 Christmas season, 100 million boxes were filled and sent out to countries all over the world. This year, the foundation is expecting more than 178 million boxes to be sent out.
