WOODBURY — Run by Nonnewaug teachers John Dominello and Conor Gereg, Unified Buddies is a club that revolves around teamwork and having fun. During usual circumstances, Unified Buddies takes place every day after school from 2:30-3:30 p.m. and can be found in Dominello’s room.

Seven members of the club were found outside playing kickball Nov. 10 by the ag building.

Andrew Stone, a junior, has been a part of Unified Buddies since his freshman year.

“I joined Unified Buddies because it is a lot of fun and I get to know new people,” said Stone.

Unified Buddies is not only about Nonnewaug, but also getting involved with the community and giving back.

“In the past, we have done activities like designing and sharing Veterans Day posters for community veterans,” said Gereg, an English teacher. “We have also baked cookies for a bingo game at the community center with local seniors.”

Owen Brown, a senior, has been a member of Unified Buddies for two years. He joined because he “wanted to be a part of something bigger than himself,” he said. Unified Buddies gave him “a new perspective of working with all different types of people.”

Dominello is the culinary arts teacher and also the founder of the Unified Buddies club at NHS.

“Everyone is included,” Dominello said. “We’re just there to let people know that our doors are open. Anyone can participate. We just want people to have fun.”

Unified Buddies is open to anyone and is always welcoming to any new members. Email Dominello or Gereg for more information. Get out there and have some fun!
