WOODBURY — The Nonnewaug Class of 2022 is hosting a coat drive until Dec. 18. This coat drive is hosted through One Warm Coat, an organization that gives out gently worn coats to people in need.

Boxes are set up outside of the main entrance of the high school, and donations are accepted between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on school days. It’s that time of the year to make room in stuffed closets and give back to those who need it most.

One Warm Coat is a nonprofit organization which has been run since 1992. Over the past 28 years, the organization has helped run 39,000 coat drives at schools, businesses, and other organizations. More than 6.6 million coats have been given out to people all across the country.

Donate gently used and worn coats and help a great cause — and maybe even add a personal touch.

“You can leave a hand-written note in the pocket to brighten someone’s day,” junior class advisor Genna Riggi wrote in an email announcement about the drive.

Juniors will deliver the coats Dec. 19.
