Tater the chinchilla practices a “stay” command on a table in the small animal lab during a training exercise as part of the Animal Assisted Therapy class offered at NHS. This class teaches students the importance of the human-to-animal bond and allows students to work one-on-one with an animal at the school.

WOODBURY — One of the rarer breeds of animals that Nonnewaug is home to is the chinchilla. The ag department is home to three chinchillas: Tater, Tot and Cheeseball. They teach students how to care for more exotic animals, as they are native to South America.
