MINI-DOC: What Makes a Good Artist?

WOODBURY — Nonnewaug is home to some of the state’s most talented young artists, but it’s also home to many students who would never consider trying their hand at painting or drawing.

Nonnewaug art teacher Leeza Desjardins has molded young artists for the last three decades, and she shares her wealth of experience in terms of the process of becoming an artist.

Jano Nakhla is a senior at Nonnewaug High School, and she is a features editor for the NHS Chief Advocate. Coming from New York originally, she has lived in Woodbury for six years now. She enjoys science, karate, and playing the piano. Her dream is to enter the medical field after high school, but she has always had an interest and passion for creative and expressive writing. She strives to strengthen her skills, and she considers the NHS Chief Advocate an opportunity to do so. She joined with the intent of learning more about journalism and becoming more involved in her school community.
