WOODBURY — As trees begin to turn orange and a chill fills the air, Nonnewaug High School is getting ready for the Halloween season to start.
Trick or Treat Street, set for Oct. 14, allows for kids from all over to come to the high school and trick or treat. It is a great activity and a great way for kids to be able to participate in the Halloween season.
“I think it’s really great to involve the community and outreach to the children for them to see how much our school does,” Kyleigh Paige, a Nonnewaug junior, said. “It’s also great for students to get community service and involve themselves”
Trick or Treat Street is one of Nonnewaug’s greatest contributions to the community. By having many students donate a bag of candy, it allows members from everywhere within the school, ag or not, to participate in this event.
“The entire community is able to come together and donate to a great cause,” Chloe Walsh, an FFA officer, said. “Also it allows for a great connection with the community that would otherwise be lost. Overall it’s a great way for kids to connect with high schoolers, get candy, celebrate festivities, and give back.”
Beyond campus, there are a variety of other events meant to engage community families. Flanders is hosting many events as well such as the Haunted Hayride and Haunted Hike that allows for the community to get into the Halloween spirit.
