They have become a large chunk of the world today and are shaping society in a lot of different ways, for better or for worse. Video games as a whole are sometimes given a bad rep — especially popular video games that are soaked into younger kids’ brains growing up.
The In Defense of Gaming podcast is based on the idea that video games have sore spots in their communities or even inside video games themselves, exposing some of the problematic topics within gaming. This will also include Nonnewaug students and staff to discuss these debatable topics and how they were fixed or still affect the video game.
The video game website Roblox has more 70 million users daily that log on to play random games that are created by anyone, and with players from everywhere and any age group. This may sound suspicious to some, but the website is heavily moderated and the website automatically censors words that are harmful to a younger audience.
The game is similar to Minecraft, and is a great way for kids to express creativity and is a positive way. Roblox has always had its problems though, especially involving in app purchases, scamming and rumors, and even unmoderated gambling has been on the site.
