WOODBURY — Sprinting across the halls, screaming about the next clue, and strategizing to finish before other advisories — it was the high energy of Nonnewaug’s annual scavenger hunt Feb. 9 to conclude winter spirit week.
Rebecca Trzaski’s junior advisory won this year’s scavenger hunt, which required students to solve seven clues, each of which led them to a staff member in the building.
Trzaski’s advisory also came in second last year and won their freshman year. The social studies teacher believes the scavenger hunt helps bring students together.
“Our freshman year it gave them something that they realized they could really bond over,” Trzaski said, “because they each bring their individual strengths.”
Freshman Henry Strzelecki thinks the scavenger hunt gives students an opportunity to socialize with other grades.
“I liked how we could figure out the clues then it would lead us to something else, which really gave each advisory a challenge,” Strzelecki says, “and it gave me the experience to socialize with upperclassmen.”
Trzaski and freshman Michael Lipinski are already looking forward to next year’s scavenger hunt.
“It’s definitely one of my favorite events the school does,” Trzaski said.
“It’s definitely a really cool event the school does,” Lipinski added, “and I’m excited to do it next year.”
