WOODBURY — The Nonnewaug library media center has a vast amount of resources for students, now including an online reading site called Sora. Introduced by library media specialist Deborah Flaherty, Sora has pleasure reading and curriculum-based books.
This new database is unique from what students have previously used in their research as Sora allows access to engaging materials focused on fictional works ranging from Frankenstein to Curses and Other Buried Things. Non-fiction choices are also available, including biographies, Spanish-translated books, and physical and mental health books.
Books can be bookmarked and rechecked, letting the reader take their time enjoying reading. Flaherty hopes that it will help students get more involved in reading. It can help students have more access to books when they are outside the school library.
