This podcast is orchestrated by Nonnewaug seniors Sean Classey and Dylan Duda. It’s about the transition many high school students must face when moving on and how NHS seniors plan on navigating the challenges of college life. This podcast discusses the process of applying for college, and the strategies used to determine which schools are right for this year’s senior class, including talking points such as: how the cost of college affects student decisions, why college location and size matters, and the selection of majors offered.
The podcast also explores many of the common stresses a new college student faces, such as the inevitable roommate they will have to share their first year dorm with. Some other common stressors brought up were the looming presence of student loans, the need to build a new social circle, and the option of staying active with sports or other extracurricular activities.
On the podcast, the hosts interview two Nonnewaug seniors, James Mahon and Orson Lin. These seniors also describe their experiences with the college process and their thoughts and feelings as they start to prepare themselves for the massive jump they must face.
