WOODBURY — National FFA Week is a dedicated period for FFA members to embrace their pride for the FFA organization. FFA Week also can fuel contributions across the program on all levels, which can foster grants, scholarships, among other things.
Here at Nonnewaug, the officer team strives to bring awareness by creating Woodbury FFA Week, which took place this year from Feb. 26-March 1. The officers create and host events during and after school, along with creating a spirit week that allows all members of the school whether they are in the program or not to participate, allowing students to come together as one.
“FFA Week is not just for kids within the ag program,” said Samantha Kostka, Woodbury FFA Chapter president. “It allows any student to participate and be a part of the FFA.”
The FFA is a life-changing program that allows students to focus on their career at a young age, preparing them for life experiences while having a unique agricultural experience. FFA Week strives to touch the lives of possible incoming students.
“It’s a great way for incoming students to connect and really feel what it’s like to be a FFA member,” said Kyleigh Paige, Woodbury FFA Chapter vice president. “It gets kids involved with the community and branch out.”
