Asha Degree went missing on Valentine’s Day 2000 in Shelby, North Carolina. The 9-year-old packed a backpack and left her home sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. during a bad storm that knocked the power out of most of her town. She was seen multiple times on North Carolina Highway 18 by truck drivers, and she was never seen after that. A year after her disappearance, her backpack was found 20 miles away with two items that did not belong to her.
