WOODBURY — A winter that started off with uncertainty and brutal defeats turned out to be Nonnewaug’s most successful in almost a decade.
The Chiefs won the Berkshire League regular-season and tournament championships, spurred by a stretch in which they won 15 of their last 16 regular-season contests. Nonnewaug clinched the outright league title for the first time since 2011 after previously earning a share of the crown in 2016.
Led by senior All-State selection Ben Roden and All-BL honoree Matt Shupenis, Nonnewaug reached the Division V state quarterfinals and finished with a 20-4 overall record.
