WOODBURY – The Woodbury FFA Chapter is an important part of our community, run by students of the agricultural program, but only a select few are chosen as officers each year.
This year’s eight-person officer team includes President Luciano Pedros, Vice President Mia Layseca, Secretary Merije Iljazi, and five others.
The officers are already working together to create a cohesive environment, along with getting so much appreciation already from new Woodbury FFA advisor Leanne Foster.
“I love the new officer team,” Foster said. “They’re doing a really nice job working together and problem solving already and planning events.”
Along with the excitement from Foster, Pedros is also thrilled for this year.
“I’m really looking forward to being a chapter officer this year,” Woodbury FFA President Luciano Pedros said. “I feel like it’s going to be fun getting to know everyone on my team even better, and going to all the fun events we get to plan.”
But with all the fun, co-advisor Eric Birkenberger is still making sure the officers are keeping up with reality.
“The goal is always for them to work together to represent and plan great activities, meaningful activities for the 375 ag students that we have,” Birkenberger said.
Like Birkenberger, Layseca is also keeping the chapter at the front of her mind.
“We’re planning on making the chapter more organized and tackling things from afar,” she said.
Iljazi feels that even if the officer positions were different, the team would still get their job done.
“There definitely could have been a difference in our positions,” Iljazi said. “Multiple officers work for the same role, but some work better than others. Even if we got different positions, our team would still be capable of what this year has to come.”
But even with no change, these members are excited for this year. Pedros, Layseca, and Iljazi are joined on this year’s officer team by Parliamentarian Abegail Diezel, Sentinel Nathan Berry, Reporter Connor Cabaleira, Treasurer Christa Freel, and Historian Isabelle Longley.
