WOODBURY — Every year at Nonnewaug, students and staff get excited for homecoming spirit week. Tons of sports events happen and the school has the first pep rally of the year. This year, the theme was a gold-out for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
The Nonnewaug volleyball team earned a 3-0 win against Gilbert during its gold-out game Sept. 19.
Captain Chloe Weaver thought the match went great and the crowd made it better despite there not usually being a big one for this sport.
“The game went really well in general,” Weaver said. “The crowd was great with many people coming to watch before the football game. This made the crowd more exciting and fueled us to play better.”
Weaver was impressed with how the team did and what she achieved during this match.
“In general, the team did great,” Weaver added. “The team got some great assists and attacks. I personally had seven assists in the game.”
With the lopsided win, everyone got the opportunity to play in this game.
“Since the team was doing so well, everyone was able to get in on the court,” Weaver said. “All of our girls had a great game.”
