OAKVILLE — With 432 students at the Grand Oak Villa, Nonnewaug’s homecoming had the majority of students in attendance.
But, was the dance worth it?
Lana Zupnick, a junior at Nonnewaug, had mixed feelings about homecoming.
“I enjoyed going. I think it was fun to just hang out with friends and dance, but I didn’t really like where it was at,” Zupnick said. “I prefer the place we went to last year. The dance floor was bigger, but I say it was worth going to for some people.”
Despite losing the final vote for homecoming court, freshman Owen Hustek had a great time.
“It was worth going to homecoming,” Hustek said. “I had a great date, we danced a lot and the food was good. I just wish my date and I won homecoming court.”
Joshua Kornblut, science teacher and Student Council advisor, planned what he thinks was a successful dance.
“I think it seemed to be a really great time for students,” Kornblut said. “There was a large showing and it is a great time to be with your peers and celebrate.”
Senior Julia Longoria decided she wasn’t attending the dance and would rather spend her money on prom.
“I didn’t want to go because I think homecoming is not really fun,” Longoria said. “I feel like it’s more of an underclassmen thing. Instead of buying a ticket and a dress, I’d rather just save the money for prom because it’s my senior year.”
