WOODBURY ー Under the bright lights at Nonnewaug on Oct. 29, the Berkshire League boys soccer tournament final featured NHS vs. regular-season champion Shepaug Valley. The Spartans won, 4-0.
Gavin Sandor, a senior captain, saw the effort in his team but knew the Chiefs could have brought more.
“It was probably one of our worst games that we’ve played,” Sandor said. “I think that the only upside to it was that everyone on the field was still trying their best; we just weren’t performing to our best. I think its kind of a reality check to because were going to be playing good teams when we go to states, and it’s a good reminder that we can’t take things easy and we have to win every ball and just try our best at every game and bring our best to the field.”
Sophomore Cash Medonis agreed.
“I think we were kind of all off. We tied to them last time and then lost 4-0 this time,” said Medonis. “I think we could have maybe started the game differently, but I also feel like we had some good midfield and offense and overall worked together the best we could.”
