WOODBURY – Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) has made sports in high school and even college much more complex. Students now have the opportunity to make money beyond scholarship money in the form of sponsorships while being in school. In other words, students can have a company sponsor them and earn money through that sponsorship.
In this podcast Henry Keil and Nesim Iljazi discuss the different situations players get stuck in with their involvement in NIL. They will also go in depth into each state’s requirements and what they mean for the student athletes. For some players NIL could be a simple way to earn some extra cash to get by the school year. For others it’s a potential way to retire their parents and for others it’s a pay to play scheme.
