WOODBURY — After much preparation from Student Council and other clubs, Nonnewaug’s annual Trick or Treat Street had a fantastic turnout Oct. 26.
With 18 cartons full of canned food donations for the Bethlehem and Woodbury food donation centers and the school being filled with adorably dressed-up kids, the day went well according to Student Council secretary Emily Thomas.
“The event went really well,” Thomas said. “We raised a good amount of money for both the Bethlehem and Woodbury food banks as well as a large amount of canned food donations. There were lots of clubs who showed up to support the cause, which was a really amazing thing to see.”
To make Trick or Treat Street possible and go as well as it did, it took much help and motivation. The Student Council president, Ada Gorka, credited vice president Rylee Gallicchio and Thomas for their effort.
“The whole preparation really started the week or two before the event to make sure everything actually went in order and worked,” says Gorka. “Emily, Rylee, and I personally had to stay after every single day of the week of Trick or Treat Street to get everything done. We also showed up at 7:30 in the morning to start the whole set up for the day of.”
