WOODBURY — There are a variety of traditions at Nonnewaug that bridge NHS’ community with student creativity. The annual Trick or Treat Street is most certainly one of them.
Trick or Treat Street is an event that occurs in the school when clubs at Nonnewaug decorate small sections of hallways and the front entrance. This allows for young kids and teens to gather a sweet Halloween treat.
When community members walk in the building they walk into a completely different atmosphere. The students cover the walls, floors, and ceilings with decorations to show their festivity.
All of the young trick or treaters are always dressed to impress when collecting the candy. You see a wide range of fairies, dragons, robots, witches, and many more.
“They [the kids] have so much personality,” said sophomore Sadie Turchuk, “and [the kids] are so adorable in their costumes.”
The range of ages that show up to the event are vast, ranging from small babies to teenagers to grandparents with their grandkids. Visitors can see the individuality in everyone.
“It is a really great opportunity for kids,” says sophomore Ciara McBrien, “because so many houses in Woodbury and Bethlehem are so far apart.”
