WOODBURY — When is it too early to celebrate Christmas?
It’s question asked by many, but the answers differ among those at Nonnewaug.
Unlike some, Nonnewaug freshman Catherine Viveros does not have a strong feeling about celebrating.
“If it brings people joy, they should celebrate when they want,” says Viveros.
But the celebrating of Christmas early may diminish the Thanksgiving meaning to come.
“I think that it’s fun to celebrate for as long as possible,” freshman Gemma Hedrei says, “but I also think it defeats Thanksgiving.”
But the other side of the debate, some get annoyed when celebrations start towards the beginning of November.
“It gets annoying actually when people celebrate too early.” says freshman Payton Brown.
But Brown feels that some students don’t actually say how they feel about decorations because of their peers.
“People go off of other people,” says Brown, “so if you tell them to stop [decorating] or start decorating, they will 100% do it because they feed off each other.”
Whether or not students are influenced by others to celebrate early or not, Viveros believes that everyone is happier during this time of year.
“I feel like everyone’s so much happier during Christmas time,” says Viveros.
Freshman Tatum Kociszewski feels that Christmas is the time to appreciate and celebrate with family and friends.
“It’s such a good holiday because you can celebrate with your family and everybody else,” she said.
