WOODBURY ー The Northwest United football team hosted its last football game of the season Nov. 27. Nonnewaug students, parents, and alumni all came together in support of the team’s last battle, a 42-7 loss to Abbott Tech-Immaculate. The Workhorses’ season ended with a 9-1 record after a rash of injuries forced them to forfeit their Class MM quarterfinal game against Windsor.
Brady Herman, a junior quarterback, knew the game could have been better but is putting it in the past and looks forward to preparing for a new season.
“The game obviously didn’t go our way in the end, but after a great season and still winning a share of the league [championship], we’re looking forward to next year and what that season will bring,” said Herman. “New players and returning players are looking to next year as the year we win.”
Reed Woerner, a senior wide receiver and defensive back, said he’s proud of the team’s effort.
“It didn’t go how we wanted it to, but it was still a great season,” said Woerner. “The team is ready for next year and we will work hard to be even better then we were this year and hopefully we win more then we did this year.
