The Chief Advocate’s editorial staff has selected senior sprinter Ellie McDonald and junior runner Jake Cenatiempo as Nonnewaug’s Athletes of the Month for January.
Cenatiempo led the 4×400 relay to second place three times and the 4×800 relay to first once in January, along with winning the 600 meters twice. In February, he won the Berkshire League championship in the 600 and helped the 4×400 and 4×800 relay squads win BL titles.
McDonald’s time of 7.35 seconds by the end of January was the seventh-best time in Connecticut, and she placed first in the 55 in six meets during January. In February, she won the BL title in the 55 and helped the 4×200 and sprint medley relay teams win BL championships. She also won a Class M title as part of the SMR team.
