WOODBURY ー For the Nonnewaug swim and dive team, support is one of its biggest signatures — it isn’t a swim meet if you don’t hear the swimmers of Nonnewaug screaming at the top of their lungs.
Nonnewaug defeated Shepaug, 91-88, on Jan. 31, and after a nerve-wracking meet, NHS ended with loads of celebration.
Cheering is one of the biggest factors of a swim meet. Sophomore Aubrey Waldron knew that with the team’s support, she and her teammates would perform well.
“We did really well as a team. Everyone was very supportive and always cheering from the side of the pool,” said Waldron. “It was a close meet, but our team work ended up pulling through in the end. Because of the support of my teammates, I managed to get a season best.”
Catherine Viveros, a freshman, knew that the meet was going to have a good ending if the team was full of support for one another.
“I think the meet went really well overall,” said Viveros. “We have grown as a team so much, and getting wins like this is very important. The whole team was hyped up ready to swim and win. We did just that.”
