WOODBURY — No one describes the word “pride” quite like the Nonnewaug Chiefs. During the winter rep rally on Feb. 7, no one saw any color besides swarms of red.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student Visionaries and Nonnewaug Student Council members planned an eventful and memorable red-out pep rally.
After weeks of Student Council’s planning and prepping, they successfully put together five action-packed games including bobbing for apples – except with Oreos and whipped cream – musical chairs, students vs. teachers basketball, tug-of-war, and a basketball hoop made out of cheerleaders and pom-poms.
The Community Outreach Committee from the FFA also did a pie-in-the-face fundraiser where students put their money towards which staff members should get pied in the face: social studies teacher Kyle Brennan and assistant principal Declan Curtin.
The juniors edged the seniors in a tight competition to win the pep rally competition.
