They look like a moose wearing heels. They’re overgrown slip-ons that are awkwardly shaped. Why are these odd-looking shoes on trend at the moment?
We should all come together to end the platform Ugg shoe trend.
The odd height of the platform and the unusual cut on the top of the shoe is not cute or stylish.
“They are so ugly,” said Sophie Caron, a sophomore at Nonnewaug. “It is unpleasant knowing that it is considered fashionable to wear them.”
Just because one person didn’t care about what they wore on their feet does not mean that everyone should follow suit. Not every fashion trend should be a trend.
You could even say it is a hazard for walking – the inch-tall platform can’t always be stable.
“I feel like they are not practical for everyday wear,” Nonnewaug reading interventionist Darcy Lockwood said. “They look good on the right person but they are not for everyone.”
The Ugg brand came from a copied company in Australia. Why would anyone wear something that looks like that? It’s not even the original Uggs brand.
What was ever so wrong with moccasins? They were simple and cute. They had actual fuzz in them and didn’t need an inch of sole. Simple and cute is all shoes need to be; nothing extra is needed.
You would think they would be less popular considering everyone has them. Once everyone has them, they can’t be that cool. Besides, who is insecure enough to need shoes that add on an extra inch of height?
Converse was a different story. They had purpose: They were stylish and actually had the purpose of what shoes are supposed to do. They were not slip-ons and you could wear them anywhere.
Uggs are too much money, so buying one of their ugliest set of shoes is diabolical.
We do not live in the Arctic, so why do we have shoes that look like they came from and made by Eskimos? I’m sure even the Eskimos would think the way we make our Uggs look today, are ugly.
“It looks like a piece of wood on your foot,” junior Matt Molleur said. “They are so bland and have no color. They are ugly with no design.”
These unpleasant shoes need to end as a fashion trend.
This is the opinion of Keira Zupan, a junior reporter for the Chief Advocate.
