WOODBURY — Favorite movies, colors, and foods — all things you’d think you’d know about your lifelong best friends.
When we put these forever friends to the test, though, most people didn’t know as much about one another as they thought they did.
The Chief Advocate asked each duo a series of seven questions about their best friends:
- What is their favorite color?
- What are their parents’ names?
- What are their pets’ names?
- What is their favorite food?
- What is their favorite movie or show?
- What is their favorite drink?
- What is their favorite sport?
Juniors Ethan Wild and Jake Cenatiempo, friends since their freshman year, know much less about each other than expected.
“I was confident going into this,” Wild said. “I feel I know Jake pretty well — I mean, he’s my best friend.”
And yet Wild only got two of the seven questions correct: his parents’ names and his favorite shows.
Gianna Geraci and McKenna Hardisty, juniors who are also cousins, making them best friends since birth, went into the questions knowing they would get all seven correct.
Hardisty got five out of seven, while Geraci got six out of seven. They didn’t get each other’s favorite food or drink.
“I think we did all right, but I definitely thought we were gonna do better,” said Hardisty.
Seniors Thomas Lengyel and Matthew Shupenis shared different thoughts and expectations on how much they know about each other.
“I am very confident I know Thomas very well, so I think we are gonna get them right,” said Shupenis.
“I don’t think we are gonna do well,” Lengyel countered. “I love Matt, but I don’t think we will answer these correctly.”
Shupenis and Lengyel ended up getting two of the questions correct. They got each other’s favorite sport and each other’s mom’s names.
“I was very confident in how well we knew each other, but I was proven wrong,” said Shupenis. “I can safely say that I don’t know as much as I thought about my best friend.”
