WOODBURY — The Lakeview boys lacrosse co-op took the field May 7 without several players sidelined by injury. The team adjusted its strategy in the absence of key players but suffered a 13-3 loss to Holy Cross.
Senior captain Liam Sandor is working with his team to improve every day but is aware of all the things she team needs to do to get better.
“We came out of the gates, kind of slow and went down 4-0 [in] the first quarter and couldn’t really get our heads back,” said Sandor. “We weren’t communicating on defense, battling some injuries on a team. We’re trying to get better every day”
Senior Jonathan Eschmann wasn’t thrilled with the losses in the starting lineup but knew his team could manage without them.
“Offensively we struggled and having two of our star defenders out was a big impact since they are our heart and soul of our defense, and it was just giving Holy Cross a lot more scoring opportunities,” said Eschmann. “Even though they didn’t run a lot of plays, it was more of iso plays, but next time, when we play them in the tournament, we’ll have our full roster, [our] offense will be better and [we] won’t be scared to shoot.”
