WOODBURY — While prom crept closer and closer, last-minute plans quickly came together — while some quickly fell apart. Some prom-goers had so much to do to get ready in the 24 hours leading up to the event, while others just threw on their outfit and showed up to pick up their date.
Senior Matt Shupenis was in no rush, taking his time before his senior prom May 24 at the Aqua Turf in Plantsville.
“I’m gonna start getting ready probably an hour before we have to leave for photos,” said Shupenis.
Then there’s the procrastinators.
“I have a haircut tomorrow morning [the morning of prom], which could very much end horribly,” junior Brycen Gagne said. “Definitely poor planning on my part.”
Yet all the preparation may not have been completely necessary. Junior Ethan Wild was slightly disappointed but still had a great night.
“Definitely could’ve been better,” Wild said. “The food wasn’t great either, but we made the most of all of it.”
While some spent minutes getting ready before prom, others spent hours on end preparing for the big night.
Junior McKenna Hardisty wanted to take her time before the big night.
“We got up at 9 to start getting ready, do hair, get food,” Hardisty said. “It’s a lot to do in a small amount of time.”
Yet all the preparation, whether it was days or hours, all came to a quick stop when 9:30 hit and the crowds scurried to what they anticipated would be the best part of the night.
