WOODBURY–On October 15, 2025, the Nonnewaug Girls Soccer team celebrated Ella Quinn, Maia Colavito, Karli Brandt, Olivia Gwiazdoski, and Hailey Goldman, the Class of ‘26 seniors, during Senior Night. Senior Night is a special event held by high school and college sports teams honoring the seniors and thank them for a job well done during their time on the team.
The Nonnewaug seniors never expected to see Senior Night come for them. Maia Colavito, a defensive player on the team, said, “Even after three years of seeing other people’s senior nights, I wasn’t really expecting to have my own.”
On a similar note, Karli Brandt, a midfield player, said, “Four years felt so long, and then it was finally, like, my time, and it just didn’t feel real.” All the girls expressed a high note of sentiment to ending their chapters as Nonnewaug soccer players.
Ella Quinn, another midfielder, said, “It’s a bittersweet feeling, for sure. And it doesn’t really feel real because it went by so fast.”
But for Hailey Goldman, a striker on the team, one chapter’s closing is another one’s beginning. “It’s sad, but not really as sad because I feel like I am gonna commit pretty soon, so it’s fun. I’m just having fun.”
Like Goldman, starting goalkeeper, Olivia Gwiazdoski, explains that the future is exciting, though experiences made at Nonnewaug are unforgettable. She said, “It’s definitely sad knowing that high school is coming to an end because I’ve made so many memories here, but I’m excited for this new chapter in my life, like going to college. I think it will be fun.”
Wherever their paths may take them, the Class of 2026 seniors have left a lasting impact on the girls soccer team for the better.
