WOODBURY – As the grades come to a close, students look back on semester one…maybe without the grades they desired… yet many are highly anticipating the several events and perks of semester two.
Warm weather, sports seasons, and new classes are just some of the many things that students are looking forward to this semester. With the upcoming red out, prom, prep rallies, field trips and graduation, the future is looking bright.
Currently the Nonnewaug Student Council, led by Joshua Kornblut, is planning exciting events for NHS.
“Right now for semester two, we have our red out pep rally and red out game. We will have a spring pep rally as well, where we will try to get some nice teacher and student involvement. We are having a teacher versus student basketball game in the Red Out Pep rally, too,” says Kornblut. “Also, we are working on trying to get more student involvement at different nonnewaug events, such as sporting events. So we are in the works of purchasing some things to hopefully help promote school spirit.”
As students look forward to all that’s to come, they will still cherish their semester one memories. Some of which being four Nonnewaug fall sports teams winning the Berkshire League tournaments, Homecoming, or even just getting to know new teachers and classmates.
“Since I’m in the ag program, I don’t know many people here, but I made a lot of new friends, so that was fun,” says Nonnewaug freshman Thomas Boyne.
Although this frigid February weather may be bringing down everyone’s mood, there is so much to look forward to in this second part of the year and the opportunity to get those grades back up.
