WOODBURY – Jujutsu Kaisen, the incredibly popular series by author Gege Akutami, has taken the media by storm. With the third season having dropped on January 8th, excitement filled the air as highly anticipated characters and scenes finally made it to the screen. Fans everywhere buzzed with excitement, social media was packed with theories and reactions, and the hype around Season 3 is at an all-time high.
However, there’s a catch: because Crunchyroll secured exclusive streaming rights, Season 3 will only be available on their platform. That means a lot of people are being left out, unable to watch the third season at all.

“Honestly, it’s annoying that season 3 of JJK is locked to Crunchyroll. I just want to experience the story, without having to jump through streaming hoops,” says Keegan Pinkney, a Nonnewaug High School sophomore.
This sentiment is shared by many fans who simply want to keep up with the show they love without the added effort or expense.
With Season 3 streaming exclusively on Crunchyroll, the situation has become frustrating for a lot of fans. Crunchyroll’s subscription costs anywhere from $10 to $17 a month, and for many families and individuals, that’s just not something they can afford to add on top of other bills and subscriptions.
The price alone has forced some fans to miss out, leaving them disappointed as their favorite show goes on without them. There are also multiple countries where Crunchyroll just isn’t available, cutting many people off from watching Jujutsu Kaisen.
Because of the roadblock made by crunchyroll, many fans are turning to piracy to watch Season 3.
“I’m not thrilled that Crunchyroll has a monopoly on JJK season 3,” says Bruce Hoyt, Nonnewaug sophomore. “If that’s the only option, I might as well just pirate it instead. It’s easier and I wouldn’t have to buy a membership just to watch an anime.”
Frustrations are high due to Season 3 being a highly anticipated season. Major plot points are set up, and fan-favorite characters getting introduced like Hakari and Higuruma The buzz around each episode just keeps growing. Many fans are calling this the best season yet, and the media seems to agree.
“Season 3 of JJK is the best yet, its animation and storylines are incredible, making every episode unmissable,” says Nonnewaug sophomore Liam McGrath. “I love how the characters have grown, and the action is next level. But it’s really frustrating that it’s only available on Crunchyroll; it would be so much better if everyone could watch it more easily.”
