WOODBURY- At Nonnewaug High School, and many other schools across the globe, hacky sack has become a viral sensation amongst students. The popular game, which has gained attention across several social media platforms, is now a common sight to see in hallways or after school.
At Nonnewaug, hacky sack isn’t just a game for students; it’s a lifestyle.
“I find students playing it every day, mainly after school.” says NHS hall monitor, Ellie Bruce. “It’s also the same groups playing in the hallways, literally every time.”
The constant playing has become a nuisance, though, for teachers and administrators.
“Hacky sacking is banned now, at least during the school day,” says Ellie. “It was distracting students during class and disrupting teachers since, during their lectures, you could hear people playing in the halls.”
Although the activity is being limited, many students love this fun game as a way to rid themselves of the boredom they face during those off periods and hang out with friends!
