WOODBURY — On May 1, or Decision Day, Nonnewaug seniors, like many high school students across America, showcased their college decisions with apparel.
While some committed close to or on the deadline, others like Zayne Brewster, who’s going to Quinnipiac in the fall, committed months ago.
“I made my decision all the way in November,” Brewster said. “I made it kind of early. A lot of other schools came in, but as I visited Quinnipiac more and more and just started more research on it and saw their awards and stuff like that, and that’s when I knew this is going to be the place for me. They have one of the best psychology programs. I was like, why not?”
Now that seniors are committed to their colleges, most look forward to the new experiences.
“I like the availability of my [college] schedule,” Nonnewaug senior Eva Ripperger, who’s committed to Virginia Tech, said. “I think right now, my schedule is really packed, and I feel like during college one of the biggest things that you have to learn is time management, and the schedule makes that easier.”
Nonnewaug senior Karissa Ciszauskas, who’s committed to Western Carolina University, agrees.
“I think it’ll be a lot easier for me to focus on school when I have less going on,” Ciszauskas said. “Definitely looking forward to an open schedule.”
