WOODBURY – It’s almost that time again, October playoff baseball is near. The MLB playoffs feature some of the most exciting moments of sports displaying massive home runs, electric performances from pitchers, little market teams upsetting the top dogs, walk off home runs, and everything in between.
All 32 teams fight day in and day out for 162 games for a chance to play on the big stage. They go through a lot of ups and downs throughout the long 6 month journey, but in the end only one team will hoist that World Series trophy. With the playoffs on the horizon, Nonnewaug High School students and staff give their predictions.

Nonnewaug senior Brady Herman is one of the many students who has been watching the end of the season unfold.
“I think the Mariners could surprise some teams,” Herman said. “ They have a lot of young talent and a lot of hot bats, if they get hot they could definitely go on a run.”
The Mariners are leading the American League West and have clinched a wild card spot.
Nonnewaug senior Ledge Lupo disagrees with Herman’s prediction and foresees a team from the NL or AL Central taking the crown.
“I believe either the Milwaukee Brewers or the Detroit Tigers will win it all,” said Lupo. “ Brewers currently have the best record of 91-54 and Detroit with 84-62. Both having great players and some new like, Jacob Misiorowski and Tarik Skubal, both very elite pitchers.”
For NHS faculty members like Ryan Campanario, Milwaukee’s hot streak is something that may prove worthwhile come October.
“I would not be surprised to see the Brewers do well, but as always pitching will be a deciding factor as I feel it always is,” said Campanarino. “It is hard to go against the Dodgers though with the lineup they have. But I would not mind seeing the Phillies make a run.”
As the season comes to an end teams will be playing for a chance to win it all, some teams will emerge from the pressure some will crumble and fall. When October comes NHS students and staff will be rooting their teams on hoping their team will come victorious.
