WOODBURY- On October 22,2025 NHS Boys and Girls soccer defied odds and won the BL title.
The girls team secured a 2-0 win from goals by Hailey Goldman and Charlotte Medonis, the team dominated in the second half against Terryville. Though these two shot the winning goals, the BL win was a team effort by the whole team.
“Yesterday, I definitely thought we were working really well together,” said Sophomore Rosie Makarewicz. “Whether that was making passes or the bench being loud and really invested in the game.”

The girls team wasn’t the only one that worked as a whole.
“All the energy the bench produced got us hyped throughout the whole season,” said sophomore Micheal Platt.
For Coach Denman, this was his ninth BL title in his past 20 years coaching, and a first for girls soccer coach Adam Brutting as he is in his second year of coaching the team.
Clearly this BL title was one of many to come.
Both the girls and boys soccer teams put in a lot of effort throughout the season to secure the title. Makarewicz feels that all of the work they put in helped them secure the title.
“I feel like we definitely earned it this year with the way we have been working towards dominating in games during practice,” says Makarewicz.
The NHS boys and girls soccer team will compete to be BL tournament champions on Friday, October 24.
