WOODBURY – Pep rallies are a highly anticipated event that students look forward to each quarter. Cheering, laughing with friends, and participating in games for your grade help take the weight off of a student’s shoulders. This year, Nonnewaug’s fall pep rally involved an array of games loved by both teachers and students.
Freshman Maiah Rodriguez won the pizza box competition, where students had to hold the boxes like a waiter/waitress and be the last one with it in their hands.
“Winning felt great,” said Rodriguez. “It was so amazing to hear the grade cheering for me.”
Winning in a school contest creates the feeling of being on top of the world, and not only is it great being number 1, but playing these games with peers is even better.
“It’s good because you get to interact with each other on a different level than competing for grades in your schoolwork,” said Rodriguez.
Nonnewaug science teacher, Joshua Kornblut, agrees with Rodriguez.
“I think that Pep Rallies promotes positive school culture and allows students and teachers a chance to come together and compete in friendly games and activities,” said Kornblut.
The fall ‘25 pep rally was a big hit between both the students and teachers, and the positive attitudes made the environment feel more joyful.
“I do think this Pep Rally was a success,” said Kornblut. “Anytime that we can bring students and teachers together to participate in activities and promote positive culture then I think that is a great thing. GO CHIEFS!”
