WOODBURY — The NHS girls volleyball team played Northwestern High School Oct. 8, the Chiefs won 3-0. The game was themed USA to attract more student participation within the games. Halftime games and shows have been added to the game to get the stands excited and ready for a win.
Ava Rickenbach, a junior setter for the team, predicted the game would be full of fun and energy as the NHS student section has a great record of hyped up games.
“I think this game will be a lot of fun for not only the fans, but for the players too,” said Rickenbach. “If the crowd gets hype then it makes us as players on the court play better. I can’t wait to see how this plays out and hopefully we will win.”
The big win wasn’t the only exciting thing about the night, the NHS student section kept the game alive and well with loud yells and cheering. Hazel Cole, a junior and starter for the team, felt even better about the game knowing she has support from her school.
“The game was really fun for all of us players, because we were able to have a large student section encouraging and motivating us,” said Cole. “The environment was extremely exciting and it was nice to see people supporting us. The game in itself was really good, and we showed Northwestern and everyone watching our full potential as a team.”
The team’s season has had lots of highs so far. Rickenbach, along with her team, has the want to be the best while also just getting to have fun with her team.
“Our season so far has been pretty great. Our team has been through the ups and downs together and we have made it through together,” said Rickenbach. “We have been working hard and we’ve made a bond that is amazing to play with.”
With a 7-0 BL record, ranked first in the BL, and 11 in class M. The next game will be held Oct. 17 against Gilbert high school.
