WOODBURY — Nonnewaug students and staff are abuzz about the Woodbury FFA Alumni’s inaugural Kickin’ Country Car Show that brought more than 214 vehicles to campus Oct. 1. Students, alumni, and community members were invited to bring their classic cars, trucks, and tractors to the show with the chance to win first place in different classes.

“The car show is hopefully going to be an annual tradition for the FFA program to raise money for the Woodbury alumni group, which in turn gives scholarships to our FFA students,” said Tom DiMarco, an agriscience instructor.

A range of registered vehicles attended the show, ranging from tractors, cars and trucks. Along with the car show raising money for scholarships, many teachers are also excited about the new opportunities this will bring to the program.

“This will be a great opportunity for people who would not normally come to Nonnewaug to see our campus and what we have to offer as a school,” said Drew Zielinski, the mechanics instructor at NHS.

Besides the car show there were other activities as well, including food trucks, vendors, craft booths, and trophies for contestants.

“We had so much fun face painting at the first annual FFA Car Show on Sunday,” the Nonnewaug National Art Honor Society said on Instagram

The Kickin’ Country Car Show is an opportunity to see the community come together while benefiting the Woodbury FFA Friends, Family and Alumni Association and the Nonnewaug High School agriscience program.

“I’m certain that this will become a staple event for the program, creating many amazing memories for everyone involved,¨ said FFA officer Chloe Walsh.
