The Chief Advocate’s editorial staff has selected Northwest United football junior wide receiver/defensive back R.J. Barksdale and Nonnewaug girls soccer junior striker Ellie McDonald as the school’s November Athletes of the Month.
Barksdale led the Workhorses to a second consecutive state playoff berth, catching three touchdown passes and intercepting a pass in November en route to earning All-Connecticut Technical Conference honors. McDonald scored a goal in each of the Chiefs’ state tournament victories, over New Fairfield in the first round and Ansonia in the second round, in leading Nonnewaug to a trip to the Class M quarterfinals.
