WOODBURY–Nonnewaug girls volleyball senior night took place on October 24, 2025. The four seniors Lana Zupnick, Macey Chmiel, Allison Hardwick, and Isabella Sylvester, played hard and ended up getting the win 3-0 against Housatonic.
A Nonnewaug volleyball game can consist of: the warm ups, the line, and the game. For these four seniors, their special night consisted of the normal warm ups and line ups, but when they got to the seniors names, the lights turned off. Glowsticks emerged from the stands, making the starting lineup announcements more special.
Other things that made their night special was the senior speeches. Each senior received a speech from one of the younger teammates. These teammates choose the senior who they felt closest to.
The final event that made their night so special and important to them was “the final set,” when a player’s parent set the ball up to their daughter for them to hit over the net.
