WOODBURY–For Jadyn Heron, sports are more than just an after school activity. Heron puts sports before pretty much anything, at least according to one of her classmates, Aubrie Salisbury. “Jadyn’s sports mean a lot to her…she always puts 100% effort into everything.”
Heron’s efforts never go unnoticed. “When the season starts, Jadyn is committed to her sport and her team,” said field hockey coach Janet Crocker.
It took a lot of effort, time, and commitment for Heron to become the lacrosse player she is today. Heron explains that her freshman year wasn’t as she expected it to be. “My freshman year was kind of a slap to the face, and I didn’t expect it to be that way,” Heron said. “But, it motivated me to be a better player.” This encouraged Heron to join a club lacrosse team to make her better and show her commitment to the sport.

Having to balance multiple sports may be a bit challenging for Heron, but she always continues to work at her sports to be the best player she can be. “Jadyn dedicates her time to being in good physical shape when it comes time for field hockey season. She is often in the lead pack for the runs,” says Crocker.
“She leads by example on and off the field and a lot of players look up to her,” says Ella Brown, a senior on the field hockey team. Heron is one many people look up to. Crocker agrees. “Jadyn is a positive source of encouragement during practices, runs, and drills. She keeps the environment light and the players having fun while working hard.”
While she may have many sports commitments, that never stops her from being a good person. Senior Sophia Gargiulo admires Heron’s character on and off the field. “She’s someone we can always count on to put us into a better mood.”
Heron’s passion for both of her sports can sometimes be a mental challenge, but that’s what shows her love for both sports. “I’m really passionate about both my sports, so at the end of the day, sometimes being too passionate is negative because that’s all I think about.”
