WOODBURY-Every spring, families come together, eggs are hidden in back yards, and baskets are filled with candy. However, Easter is not always celebrated the same.
“I like hanging out with my family,” said history teacher Rebecca Trzaski. “I think it is a good excuse for families to come together.”
For many people, these traditions start bright and early with making and eating breakfast together and opening gifts.
“My family and I wake up early, and we make breakfast together,” said Rileigh Abed. “We also get gifts for each other based on jokes or memories we have together.”

Although this is common for most people, others start their Easter mornings by going to church with their families.
Freshman Piper Robinson said, “On Easter, we like to honor God and what he did for us.”
Maiah Rodriguez adds, “my family and I go to church and then spend time together.”
Although there are specific Easter family traditions, an Easter egg hunt is the most common tradition that everyone shares.
“On Easter, my family does an Easter egg hunt,” said Harper Vent. “I love seeing my little cousins try to find them.”
For this common tradition, most families buy plastic pre-stuffed eggs, while others buy real eggs and decorate them themselves.
“My favorite part of Easter is decorating eggs with my little sister,” said Armanie Sylvester. ”After we decorate them, we hide them in the woods and go to find them.”
In the end, regardless of what you do to celebrate, laughter, love and time shared is what makes Easter truly meaningful.
