WOODBURY一Students prepared for the SAT this month and stressed on how to prepare for it in the hope that they would get to their target score. It still plays a big part in students getting into colleges. For a while, most schools were test-optiona, but it seems to be going back the other way.
Jadyn Heron, a junior at NHS, has done the preparation for the test but feels overall it hasn’t made her stress any better.
“Taking the SAT is a huge thing and it is really important for getting into a good college and having a good future. The teachers remind us every single day that we have to take this dumb test that is lowkey annoying,” says Heron. “I met the requirements to not get into sat prep but to better myself I asked my counselor to place me in sat prep as a class period and during tribe and focus. I think overall it has been helpful in preparing me but it doesn’t take the nerves away from taking the test.”

It isn’t just Heron who is feeling the stress of the upcoming test.
Students rushed to do as much as they could to get ready for the test. Cash Mendonis, a junior at Nonnewaug, felt ready.
“I’m not very stressed to take the SAT because I’ve studied pretty well throughout the year to help me get a better score,” said Mendonis. “I hope to do well on my SAT so I have a better chance of getting into a college of my choice and to set me up for a better future.”
