WOODBURY — Nonnewaug kicked off its annual red-out week Feb. 2 to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. During the first day of winter spirit week, the school encourages all students to wear all the red they have.

The day was a great success, with the halls flooded with red and a lot of purchases from the LLS fundraising group that sold red items throughout the week.

Nonnewaug puts on this event every year at around this time, and is a fun school tradition. It was the last redout for the class of 2024 but the first of many redouts for the class of 2027. Freshmen said they had a good time during this event, along with the rest of the school.

“I thought it was really exciting and I liked the vibe of it and how there were so many people,” said Nonnewaug freshman Max Nichols. “It was really nice to have all the sports teams play, and the chants were really fun.”
